Kandi Friends Educational Trust, under the dynamic leadership of a great visionary and a renowned social reformer Revered Er. Gurcharan Singh Ji, established the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) Bhaddal Technical Campus Ropar (Rupnagar) in July 1998.
The College of Architecture (CoA) was unveiled at the Bhaddal Campus in 2004. This was followed by the addition of Institute of Management Studies (IMS) in 2007. GCS Institute of Vocational Studies (IVS) was initiated in 2008 and it is the umbrella department for courses such as B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Hotel Management, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Application and Bachelor of Commerce(Professional).
All the Institutes of Bhaddal Technical Campus employ well-qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty as per the AICTE norms. The campus also boasts of well equipped laboratories & workshops, a computerized central library with air-conditioned reading room, a digital Library, Wi-Fi facility through-out the campus, air-cooled & air-conditioned independent hostels for boys (capacity 400 residents) and girls (capacity 350 residents) along with mess facility, a medical centre with on-call doctor, a canteen & tuck shops, residence for faculty, guest house, etc.
IET Bhaddal Technical Campus is spread over an area of 60 acres in the lush green pollution-free environment of Shivalik foothills which provide the ideal environment for the development of mind & the senses. In addition to the beautiful landscaping, the institute also maintains a green house and a herbal garden.

Rupnagar (formerly known as Ropar) town, the district headquarters is 42 Kms from Chandigarh, the state capital. The district comprises 4 Tehsils, Rupnagar, Anandpur Sahib, Nangal and Chamkaur Sahib and includes 624 villages and 6 towns namely Rupnagar, Chamkaur Sahib, Anandpur sahib, Morinda, Kiratpur Sahib and Nangal. All the towns except Chamkaur sahib fall on railways line. The climate of Rupnagar District is characterized by its general dryness (except in the south-west monsoon season), a hot summer and a bracing cold winter. The temperature ranges from minimum of 4∞ C in winter to 45∞ C in summer. May and June are generally hottest months and December and January are the coldest months. Relative humidity is high, averaging about 70 percent during monsoon. The average annual rainfall in district is 775.6 mm.
