Expert Lecture on "AI-Powered 21st Century Skills – From Prompts to Productivity" held at IET Bhaddal

IET Bhaddal Technical Campus, Ropar organized a special expert lecture on ‘AI-Powered 21st Century Skills – From Prompts to Productivity’ with the objective of familiarizing students and faculty with the essential skills required in the era of Artificial Intelligence. The session was delivered by Mr. Tanvir Singh, a renowned TEDx Speaker, internationally certified educator, trainer and academic development expert, who joined the event as the keynote speaker. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Taranjit Kaur, Dean Research-cum-Training & Placement Officer, who welcomed the keynote speaker, faculty members, staff, and students. She also highlighted the achievements and professional credentials of Mr. Tanvir Singh, informing the audience that he holds certifications from several reputed international organizations, including Microsoft, UNESCO and National Geographic. She further stated that he is the author of more than 60 research and review papers and has been actively contributing towards innovation in education, critical thinking and the development of 21st-century skills. During the expert lecture, Mr. Tanvir Singh provided an in-depth insight into the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence and its growing impact on education, employment and everyday work practices. He explained that Artificial Intelligence should not be viewed merely as a tool for obtaining information, but rather as an effective support system for thinking, creating, solving problems and improving the quality and efficiency of work. He particularly emphasized the importance of the art of creating effective prompts, explaining that clear, purposeful and context-based prompts are essential for obtaining meaningful and effective results from Artificial Intelligence. He also shared practical approaches for using Artificial Intelligence in various academic and professional tasks. The students were informed that in the coming years, technical knowledge alone would not be sufficient for professional success. Creative thinking, effective communication, collaboration and problem-solving abilities would also play a crucial role in building successful careers. To make the session more engaging and effective, students were introduced to the practical applications of Artificial Intelligence through real-life examples and interactive activities. The students participated enthusiastically and interacted with the expert, raising questions and gaining valuable insights into emerging technologies and their applications. On the occasion, Dr. S. S. Bindra, Director Campus, stated that such expert lectures motivate students to go beyond classroom learning, understand the changing requirements of industry and continuously update themselves with emerging technologies. He emphasized that providing students with practical and industry-oriented knowledge is the need of the hour in an era of rapid technological advancement. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Group Director (Academics), stated that providing students with practical exposure to emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence would help strengthen their future learning capabilities and employability. He appreciated such knowledge-enhancing initiatives and highlighted their importance in the overall development of students. At the conclusion of the programme, Mr. Tanvir Singh was honoured with a memento by the institute as a token of appreciation. Overall, the expert lecture proved to be an informative, practical, engaging, and inspiring learning experience for the students and faculty members.
