CENTRAL LIBRARY

The Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bhaddal established in 1998, is one of the premier college in Punjab. The institute is one of the oldest self-financial technical institutes (SFTI), offering degree level and post-graduate levels courses in different disciplines of Engineering Sciences. Approved by Govt. of Punjab and AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.

ABOUT LIBRARY

The Library and the Information Centre is the window to the world of Knowledge. We are living in an era of information explosion. Every hour, a new theory a thought a new philosophy, new discoveries, new innovations is released for mankind.

Our Central Library is a well-equipped computerized with an integrated system connected to the Campus Network and Wi-Fi providing Internet and e-mail facility. The reference collection of the library is continuously updated, and augmented with the acquisition of CD-ROM databases and access to on-line databases on Internet. On-line Public Access Catalogue facility is available. OPAC can also be accessed through any terminal on the Campus Network. Library collection can also be searched through Web OPAC.The Library subscribes to about 48 current periodicals.


MISSION

The mission of the Central Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. Library also subscribes to new AICTE Mandatory Engineering e-journals.


VISION:

  1. Library aims to be one of the best among engineering college libraries in the region.
  2. Library intends to incorporate the latest technology and adopt user friendly approach towards students and faculty.
  3. It intends to offer comprehensive services related to dissemination of knowledge.

Short term goals:


To serves as a resource centre of all students and faculty members. As a center for collection of books and journals of all related subject to develop a comprehensive collection of information required for teaching and reference purpose. To acquire, organize information resources to meet the present and future needs of its users.

Library Automation: The TCSION software is used for Library Automation.

Library Collection

The library has a rich Collection of Books on Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences, Management and General. The collection in the library includes Reference Books, Bound Volumes of Journals and special collection of books for economically weak Students.

Library Services:

Reference Service: Reference service is provided to users which enable the users to reach the required information.

Circulation Section

Lending Service is being provided for the Students & Faculty members from 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM on all working days. Barcode system already introduced. Home Issue of CD's/DVD's/Floppy's are on Identity Card for Two days only for Students and Staff.

Digital Library & Internet Service

Internet service is also provided to our users to update their knowledge. The users are using this service for searching information, downloading articles from the online sources.Print out facility is also provided.

Reprography Services

We are also providing reprography services to Students and Faculty members.

Current Awareness Service: New additions and updated technical information's are being circulated to the Students and Faculty Members and also put on the Library Notice Board and information also sent through e-mails to concern all Head of the Departments.

Newspaper Clipping Services: Newspaper clipping service is provided to Chairperson office, Director’s office and other related departments.

Book Bank Scheme and Welfare Facility: Under this scheme books areprovided to the students for the whole semester. Welfare facility is only for economically weaker section.


Special Features

OPAC System

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility is also available at the library entrance to facilitate online search of books available in the library with Title, Author, Publisher, Key-word and Subject search options.

Multiple copies of popular books are bought to make them available to as many students as possible. A copier facility is also provided for the benefit of those who cannot access the library. Fully automated day-to-day operations and Specialized CD's on a variety of topics, including engineering, computers and management, are available.

LIBRARY RULES

1 Admission to Library:

  1. Membership/Identity cards are required to be shown at the entrance on demand.
  2. Personal belonging is not allowed to be taken inside the library. Such belongings should be kept at the Property Counter for the purpose. It should be clearly understood that the belongings left at the Property Counter are at the personal risk of readers. They should be collected back on the same day. The library does not accept any responsibility for loss etc.
  3. Members are permitted to take inside the library their personal books for consultation subject to necessary checking each time while taking in and taking out the personal books
  4. The membership card is not transferable.
  5. Library Discipline:
  6. Readers are required to handle the library reading material and property very carefully and not to (i) write in or mark (ii) tear-away pages or mutilate (iii) disfigure or otherwise cause damage in any way.
  7. In case damage is caused to any library reading material or property, the person concerned shall be liable to pay the replacement cost. In addition, his membership may be cancelled at the discretion of the Librarian.
  8. Strict discipline and decorum of the library shall be maintained all the time.
  9. Anyone found guilty of misbehaviour will render his/her membership liable to be cancelled at the sole discretion of the Librarian.
  10. No library reading material can be taken out without getting it properly issued. Anyone found violating this rule will be considered liable to such action as may be deemed necessary by the Librarian.
  11. Library premises are completely a No smoking zone.

3 Loan Privilege:

  1. Each regular member eligible for borrowing facilities will be issued three books for a fortnight.
  2. The borrowers shall satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the books before borrowing. No plea that book was already damaged will be entertained at the time of return of the book.

4 Conditions of Loan:

  1. An over-due charge of Rs 3.00 per title per day may be levied if a book belonging to General Collection is kept beyond the due date.
  2. Those members who are found to be in the habit of detaining library material will be dealt with strictness. If anyone is found to have detained library material beyond one month after the due date thrice in a year, his/her membership of the library will be liable to be cancelled at the discretion of the Librarian. For this purposes proper record of each default will be maintained at the Counter.
  3. Books on loan are subject to recall by Librarian at any time.
  4. A member against whom over-due charges pending shall not be allowed to borrow or withdraw security deposit.

5 Loss of Books etc:

  1. In case of loss of library reading material, the reader concerned shall be required to pay replacement price prevailing at the time of payment.
  2. In addition to replacement price, three times extra charges shall be payable for loss of books which in the opinion of Librarian can procured from market.
  3. In case of loss of rate and out-of-print books, and bound vols., of periodicals, the replacement cost shall be fixed by the Librarian in each case.
  4. In case of loss of loose issues of a periodical, replacement cost for the whole vol., shall be ordinarily required to be paid
  5. Loss of Library card:
  6. The loss of library card should be immediately reported to the Librarian in writing.
  7. Due care will be taken by the library to prevent misuse of loss card. But the library does not accept any responsibility for this. The reader concerned shall continue to be responsible for any loss. Due to the misuse of the lost card even after having formally reported the loss and having been issued duplicate card.
  8. On request, duplicate card may be issued after a period of 7 days after the report of loss was made.
